A MOMENT TO REFLECT

“Then the Lord said, ‘Go outside and stand on the mountain before the Lord; the Lord will be passing by.’ A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains and crushing rocks before the Lord – but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake – but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was fire – but the Lord was not in the fire. After the fire there was
a tiny whispering sound.”    – 1 Kings, 19:11-12

So often in our lives we have opportunities to seek God. And how often do we
expect Him to appear to us in a really LOUD way? We hope to see fireworks, or a
billboard calling to us, or a good slap on the back accompanied by words of
wisdom. But the Lord does not work in this way. The Lord works quietly, humbly,
and patiently to provide us with the strength and support we need to become the
best we can be.
May we each respond to the tiny whisper of the Lord in our daily lives. Amen.
