EFFECTIVE MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2020
To protect our Clients and Volunteers, the Board of Directors has made temporary changes to our operating procedures. Our number one priority is to keep our Clients and valued Volunteers healthy and safe.
Beginning today, the Helping Center will provide food to our clients through a curb side service. The details of this temporary procedure will be posted at the Helping Center.
The temporary procedures are designed to minimize the number of individuals in our facility at a given time. While the temporary procedures will minimize contact with Clients, we can not ensure that any Volunteer is free from coronavirus exposure. We strongly urge our elderly Volunteers or those Volunteers with underlying health conditions to stay at home until the danger of the coronavirus has passed. Our goal is to protect our Volunteers for this brief period so that you may continue to serve for the long term.
Currently, we plan to keep the temporary procedures in place until May 1, 2020. The Board will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as warranted.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please call Sam or Michele at the Helping Center (830-693-5689).
Per the CDC, the best way to prevent contracting the coronavirus is to avoid being exposed. The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person:
- Between people who are in close contact with one another (within 6 feet)
- Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Older individuals and those with underlying chronic medical conditions are at higher risk.
